why don't you talk with the nicest person you might know in hr or a higher up boss and seeing how this will be handled.

If you were paid on 1099, no. If you were paid W-2, with FICA and other taxes deducted, then hospital (assuming they were issuing your paychecks) should have been paying UI tax for you, as well.
Also, in PA, you need to have an earnings history going back 18 months. If you file now, PA will consider all your earnings between April 2011-March 2012. If you file in October, PA will consider all your earnings between July 2011-June 2012. You must have at least 16 weeks earnings in that period. More info, here:

My company was acquired by a larger one, they began to write people up for minor errors. People who had been there 20 years plus, usually women with heath problems or a sick parent, write up, 30 day notice, bang, fired. Pension gone. I always wondered if they were able to get unemployment.
I was one of those people but I got another job, My next job, they would hire people who were on unemployment and have them work for the probation period of 90 days and then fire them so they did not have to pay benefits. They were very open that they were going that. I always wondered if they were able to get their unemployment back.

Yes, those people received benefits. No doubt the company contested. But, on appeal, any of the grounds cited above are not grounds for complete denial. Many people give up and don't fight.

Yes, they people can reopen their old claims. Possibly not without a fight if the company lied about their terminations.
