Lifestyle, eh? My wife and I deliberately chose to live in the city so we don't have to drive everywhere. Her employer was also in the city, and was easily accessible by public transportation. A few years ago, the employer relocated her unit to a suburban office park. Getting there by bus now requires 2 buses and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes (including a 45 minute wait for connection). Consequently, she drives solo to work, adding to the congestion and pollution (not to mention higher costs to us).

Her lifestyle hasn't changed any. I understand that many PREFER the car culure, sprawly lifestyle, but as long as public policy continues to promote sprawl, there's not much those of us who can and would voluntarily choose a more earth-friendly lifestyle can do.
