Did I see Appalachia listed as one of the locations? Not sure what that region would have to do with the Desert. I do think we need to look for other choices for life in the USA for the coming generations. So build it.

Why would people move there? Will there be great jobs, amazing recreational opportunities, or some other draw?

It was 102° at 4pm here in Tucson today. My air conditioner runs all day and night. I wouldn't plop a city down in the desert.

well in the desert the city could be powered by solar and wind farms.
