Nice map showing our current weather pattern from NWS Burlington, VT...a huge upper level low over the Midwest and an upper level ridge of high pressure offshore is bringing a warm and humid air mass into the northeast...
Near 80 for VT next couple days.

I spent the past few days in southern NH and mentioned to the rels that we might see snow this weekend. The temps there were summer-like in the low 80s with picture perfect weather. They all ordered a round of what I was drinking.

The coldest air will come after Tuesday. Ophelia is kind of stalling the High Pressure from moving over us.
There was snow in high elevations of NC today and West Virginia..and PA could break the earliest snow record too.
If you can see mountain peaks above 3500 feet next few days...take pics and post them here. They could get a coating.

I looked at our thermometer today around noon. 37 degrees with wind-driven rain. Didn't see any snow mixed in, but Jay Peak surely picked up some - according to everybody and his brother. Not a very comfortable day to be outside.

Yeah, there's a lot of chatter about some spot seeing snow today. In fact 6-10 " is forecasted to fall on the west side of appalacians tonight.

That's as good as any guess that I could throw out. We've also had a lot of precip this year, but I haven't kept track of exactly how much. What I have noticed is a higher than usual amount of seeds ready to drop - from maples in particular - at least around my place. It could be that the trees are working extra hard to ensure a future generation. I really don't know. It was, however, a good year overall for sugaring. Could be just an off year for color or maybe something else is going on.
