AMAZING. Holy moly. I can see why some people call it life changing.

I'm in CT so it was only 93%, not much to see without the glassses but it did get chilly and the birds starting flying around and singing. I did watch the total eclipse in Vermont on my phone though.

Watched the whole thing from my back deck in Franklin County! Very light cloud cover did not diminish the greatness! We even saw the bead that is said to look like an engagement ring. Venus and Mars were visible. So awesome!! I think it might have been worth is for the folks who travelled here!
so happy I got to see this!

I can't believe you missed totality by only 300 miles! I've seen an annular and a partial but the total eclipse is a million% better. On the other hand getting back to CT probably would have taken a whole day. People who commuted an hour south on 89 said it the normal hour commute took 3.5 hours.

Agreed, totality is a whole different experience.

It was 3 hours up from the Boston suburbs to St. Johnsbury leaving just before 6. The city handled it really well and we were able to find a spot that (I thought) was close to the highway and away from festivities to book it out of there, but also near to one of the big municipal parking lots for that all-too-essential portapotty.

We hopped in the car as soon as totality ended, and while people in the city were great about directing traffic, it took an hour to get to the highway. Once on 93, there was no traffic until we hit Franconia. Waze told us it would only add 45 minutes to our route, so we went for it. And then it sat at +45 minutes for the next 4.5 hours, including a quick pull into the median so my boyfriend could run across 93N to pee in the woods (along with a ton of other folks). When we finally got to the part where 93 goes down to one lane, we realized that the State Police was clearing the on-ramp coming on from 18 while stopping the entirety of 93. It was actually a breeze getting through the Notch - we were at 30 MPH the whole time.

We stopped at an absolutely mobbed McDonalds since it was all that was open as soon as we hit Woodstock. Then we hit some traffic around 11 p.m. around Concord and then at the tolls. We got home at 1 am.

Still 100% worth it.

We drove up from Connecticut and found a deserted field and watched from the side road across the field. Absolutely amazing. Took 4.5 hours up and only 3.5 hours back. Home about 7:20.

......and then yesterday, I had to be in Burlington for something, and I got flipped off and cursed at by 3 different out of staters. I guess I wasn't driving fast enough.
I refrained from responding. I think they were all lost.
