48. Camerata

City: Shreveport, LA
Category: Shopping
Telephone: (318) 869-5175
Address: 2910 Centenary Blvd.

Description: Named after a group of poets and musicians who met in Florence, Italy, during the late 16th century, this choir performs classic works of the highest standard. While giving up to four local performances each year, this stellar choir has performed Poulenc’s Gloria on the Carnegie Hall Masterworks Series in New York. They recently returned from the National Collegiate Choral Convention at Yale University where they were one of only nine groups invited to sing. It is rare that a college the size of Centenary (approximately 900 students) can produce two outstanding choral groups, but the institution believes part of its mission is to provide the community (and, indeed, the world) wonderful music.
