Description: One of the most popular courses along the coast, the Samoset has 18 holes on a stunning piece of coast overlooking both Rockland Harbor and the open ocean. These holes have been lauded up and down, called “a golfer’s paradise” by Golf Traveler, hailed as “the seventh-most beautiful course in America” by Golf Digest, and ranked 26th in Golf Digest’s listing of the country’s 75 best resort courses. It’s easy to understand, as 14 holes have superb views of the sea and seven actually border it. Part of the Samoset Resort, these links are available to nonguests, but the fees tend to be steep—$110 these days—and tee times are scheduled to favor guests. Still, it’s worth making the effort for the views alone.
