Description: Cox Health Systems is a three-hospital system in southwestern Missouri, with the two Springfield hospitals of most interest to those living in the Branson area. Cox North is a 274-bed community hospital in north Springfield; Cox South is a 562-bed tertiary-care facility in south Springfield. The third, Cox-Monett Hospital, is a 78-bed hospital in Monett. The Springfield south facility is the newest of the three. Other Cox facilities include 50 regional clinics throughout the Ozarks; Primrose Place Health Care Center; Oxford HealthCare, a home health agency; Home Parenteral Services, a home infusion-therapy agency; and Burrell Behavioral Health, which offers behavioral health services in 19 locations in southwestern Missouri.The Cox System evolved from the Burge Deaconess Hospital, which opened in Springfield on Thanksgiving Day in 1906 in a modest frame duplex. Cox has provided medical care for Springfield and area residents for a century. Today Cox Systems provides medical care for an 18-county primary service area in southwestern Missouri.
