Description: Meadowood is the Black Hills’ busiest bowling venue. Its 36 lanes are packed all hours of the day, nearly every day of the year. In fact, the bowling alley used to be open 365 days a year, although it now may close for Christmas and Thanksgiving, depending on demand. Every other day of the year Meadowood is open from 9 a.m. to midnight. Leagues play from 5 to 9 p.m. almost every day of the week, and you can forget about open bowling anytime on Wednesday, Saturday morning and evening, and Sunday evening. The lanes are taken over late Friday and Saturday (sometime between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.) by teenagers for Cosmic Bowling, an event marked by flashing neon and loud music. The event costs $15 per person and covers shoe rental and as many games as you can play. A regular game will run $3.50 per person, and shoes cost $2.25. Facilities here include a lounge with a full bar, a full-service restaurant, pool tables, video games, and video lottery machines. For the serious bowler, the pro shop sells the accessories you need for your game, and there’s an expert on hand to answer questions and make sure you get the right equipment.
