    Found open cooked rice balls sitting at room temperature. Per operator; rice balls were purchased hot in Daily City; CA and transported to store. Discontinue selling cooked potentially hazardous foods as facility is not equipped for hot holding. Ensure all food products are pre-packaged and labeled and all receipts are kept to verify source. Rice balls discarded on-site; corrected on-site.

    Operator storing boxes of foods (Mango & other vegetables) in boxes directly on the floor. All foods not in impermiable packaging must be stored a minimum of 6" off the floor to prevent contamination and for ease of cleaning.

    Replace the broken/inaccurate thermometer in the egg/balute 3-door glass refrigeration unit.

    NOTES:- All food product was at appropriate holding temperature- Hand washing sinks were stocked and operational.- Keep receipts for all product especially those without individual labels (e.g. frozen pre-packaged pook fish; baute eggs).     All violations noted on previous inspections have been corrected. Operator has installed a deep basin (mop) sink in the area adjacent the display cooler. Advised operator to stock the area with soap and paper towels for hand washing. The sink has been installed for hand washing only so that the operator may portion out meat; fish; etc. in the display cooler. There remains innadequate facilities for utensil washing. Advised operator to use only gloved hands or disposable utensils for portioning out the foods.

    Operator displaying and selling/portioning meat (sausage). There is inadequate facilities to support this type of operation. The only available hand washing sink is in the restroom and there is no utensil washing sink other than in the restroom.All food (meat and fish included) must be commercially prepackaged under the current grocery permit.

    Operator using tongs to portion out sausage from the display cooler. There are inadequate facilities to wash the tongs. Discontinue this practice.

    Failure to correct the above listed violations within the 7 day time frame may result in the issuance of a re-inspection fee and/or the suspension of the Health permit to operate until such time as the violations have been corrected.

    Operator displaying and selling meat and fish by the pound. Operator is portioning out meat and fish without adequate facilities to do so. The only available hand washing sink is in the restroom and there is no utensil washing sink other than in the restroom.All the meat and fish must be prepackaged (by the commercial wholesaler) when purchased or an additional permit to operate (MEAT) must be applied for and approved. Additonal requirements may include but not be limited to the installation of a sink to wash and sanitize utensils as well as a second sink for handwashing purposes located in the area where the packaging of meat and fish is occuring. A certified food protection manager (CFPM) may also be required.
  • [1] Thermometers provided and conspicuous
    No thermometer in 2-door fish cooler - Install a thermometer in a conspicuous location in all coolers.
  • [2] Dishwasher facilities designed; constructed; maintained; installed; located; operated as required
    There is no sink available for washing the utensils used to portion out the meat and fish. Operator currrently using tongs to portion out the fish and meat. Operator required to use disposable gloves (change each time) and wash hands each time or use disposable utensils.

    Keep the roll-up door closed unless there is a delivery to prevent entry of prohibited insects and rodents.
