Description: This restaurant and microbrewery is located in a Bavarian-style timber and stone building at Calhoun’s Village near the south end of Gatlinburg’s Parkway. The village itself is unique in that it offers visitors plenty of free parking. Smoky Mountain Brewery provides entertainment six nights a week. Typically, you’ll find karaoke Monday and Tuesday and live bands Wednesday through Sunday. The bands present varied styles ranging from light rock to bluegrass. The shows run from around 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., and there’s never a cover charge. You don’t have to be 21 to enter, but naturally, you must be to consume alcohol. The main dining room, full-service bar, and entertainment section are upstairs. The heavily raftered room provides a simple and casual tavern-style atmosphere. There is a large-screen television, which is the center of attention during televised sporting events (especially Tennessee Volunteer football games). Those ordering from the menu will find a hearty selection of subs, sandwiches, and calzones as well as the restaurant’s specialty—pizza. You can enjoy your meal in the main dining area or on the glassed-in porch. Downstairs is where you’ll find the microbrewery. The menu features as many as 13 different beers. Seven house beers are always on tap, including Cherokee Red Ale, Mountain Light, Black Bear Ale, Old Thunder Road, Tuckaleechee Porter, and Velas Helles Lager. In addition, several brewmaster’s specials and seasonal selections complement the overall selection. This location is the company’s first microbrewery, although another has opened in the Walden’s Landing shopping area in Pigeon Forge. The Pigeon Forge location (at 2530 Parkway, call 865-868-1400 for information) offers the same beers and the same menu, but in a more modern setting.
