Not sure I get that arugment. I sometimes wish the season was not quite as long but I certainly never tire of it and do not think there are too many races (36!)
How many games does the NFL have each year?
How many baseball or basketball games are played each week?
I think looking at it from that prepective makes 36 seem rather minute!
Its not the number of races they have, its the length of the season which is more than 40 weeks. But for us NASCAR junkies, too many races is an oxymoron.
I think 36 is fine, but need fewer boring races. Texas, California, etc. the cookie cutter dead dull sleep fests. Make those shorter, bring in more short tracks, another road course, whatever. Also cut the breaks in the schedule, and stop before football season.

Would love to see more short tracks and another road course.. you can cut out Indy while your at it!

Feb - November season - nearly double the NFL. Baseball seven months. NBA and NHL about 8 months. Hard for the general sportsfan like myself to follow NASCAR for so many months - lots of hype for too long - diluted by so many races that each of them don't mean so much except Daytona 500 - then they have all these additional races before the Sunday race - other than an avid fan, the avg fan can't keep up with the sport and gives it up all together except maybe the Daytona 500.
Think about the avg fan in baseball. Do you think they track the winners and loosers of every game every day? no way. Baseball has far more games and far more leagues/divisions than does Nascar. I think the avg fan of any sport, not just NASCAR, has a hard time keeping up with every game, every week.
Most baseball, basketball, and hockey fans will admit that there are waaaaaay too many games - but the owners need the games to make a buck (to pay the players)........
like other sports, watching on NASCAR on the HDTV seems to be much better than being there in person -
I agree.
