My friend who bought one went to a location and got to test drive the model Y before buying. I think it wasn't the trim that he bought but at least it gave him an idea.

You have to schedule an appointment online to test drive. You then order it in store or online and it gets delivered to you. There is limited inventory available to buy today.
I could never understand how anyone could buy a car without seeing it, test driving it, and comparing it to others. When the interest rates went up, it slowed sales, and the smaller subset of buyers that will purchase sight unseen is just not enough to pay the bills.
I agree. No amount of reviews can tell you if it feels comfortable to drive, for an individual.

I'm thinking is that most consumers like myself, need to be a bit more engaged in the process with a test drive and checking out the fit and finish rather than buying a $$$$ car by looking at pictures.
I was seated next to a guy on an airline that was in the car business and he told me Carvana simply didn't make enough margins on their cars. They pay too much and then get buried in the car. They can only roll the losses down the road so far.
He was upper management in a chain of used car dealers that had 4000 cars but were soon expanding to new markets/3 new locations in late 22/early 23. He didn't know it when he talked to me that I actually know the founders of his dealership, had actually stayed at their house/been on trips with them.

Whenever I’d read posts, on CD and elsewhere, about people selling their cars to Carvana, I’d usually shake my head and say a Carvana paid them too much.
When looking on the Carvana site and other sites on the same day….their prices always seemed too high in comparison.
Some people on CD lauded their warranty, but I never heard if that was administered by a third party or not.
If not, will the warranties be lost to customers in bankruptcy ?

The car vending machine was for sold cars. You would go pick it up at one if you wanted. It was a marketing gimmick.
