I think it's safe to say his unemployment will be short-lived. I think he'd be a perfect fit in New Orleans, and could transform their good young team into a Conference Finals contender.
Any thoughts?
If you look at the results he got (50 wins, dispatched easily in 2nd round) versus the level of talent he had, that is a serious issue. The Bulls had much more talent and depth than the Hawks, yet the Hawks won 60. The Hawks were very vulnerable to injury due to their lack of bench, yet they made it all year without much injury until the very end when Korver got hurt.
I do think that Thibs over-works his guys a bit, but you can't deny that he is an excellent coach. Think of all the injuries the Bulls have dealt with over the past couple of seasons and they always in contention for the top spot in the East. I think he will have a job soon.
Shots fired out of Chicago. I can't believe they blasted him the way they did on the way out the door and wondering if it'll affect his potential future employment.
I agree, if he lands in New Orleans, he might just turn that team into a serious problem. Anthony Davis just needs to get a little stronger and stay healthy, and he will be even more special than he already is.
Anthony Davis is already on his way to being a serious MVP candidate in the next five years and if his team starts winning more with Thibbs at the helm, it could be a win win - even though they already play in the toughest division in sports. Plus the Mavs will still beat 'em four times a year.
