It may just be me, but when players get $300 million contracts, it says ticket prices are double what they should be. How about sending some of that money back to the consumer?
He doesn't have to be the best player in the world, there's only 1 Steph Curry, KD, Jokic, or Lebron.
He just has to be good enough for the Celtics to want to pay him that. The highest paying NFL QB is.... Lamar Jackson not Patrick Mahome and not Aaron Rodgers. Why? Because he's good enough that the Ravens knows it would be harder to replace him.

Same concept for Jaylen Brown.
Justin Herbert just singed a contract bigger than Lamar in the last few days, but your point is valid. Brown got the money because some team would have paid the money for him, there are only so many All-Star players.
It's an offensive league, and Brown is an offensive player with some room for continued growth.
Max guys and 2nd round picks are where roster construction is headed. Lots of "middle class" NBA players are signing with tanking teams because they are still willing to offer them contracts and have to reach the league spending floor.

Thats all you have to do in the nba, just be on the all star team once in your career and your garunteed a max deal. Jalen brown will make more than 60 million per year average, while the lowest paid nba player is at 600k, thats only 1% of what he is making. With 1 jalen brown, you can afford 100+ out of rotation players for the same price.

You've been beating this drum for awhile now, and it seems like you are right. Put up some empty stats, try to make an All-NBA team, then get that max deal from someone desperate.
I'm honestly excited to see how some of these 2nd round picks perform. Many are older because of the COVID year, and at 23 and 24 are expected to play some rotational minutes from Day 1. If you have an unselfish superstar, these guys will get open shots.

.
Yeah, im a big paul pierce fan and he once said some stars give up 30 million to have a chance of winning a championship, and many dont get it. Rashard lewis, antoine walker, khris middleton, chauncy billups,, fred van vleet, are all just all stars with a ring, but in x amount of years, no one will know who they are, even if they have 6 rings, it doesnt matter. Being in the hof will get you much more certified. and Getting the bag is also important.
Kevin love would have been in the hof had he not been traded to Cleveland, and had he stayed loyal, he would have probably made millions more if minnesota took care of him as he aged. His ring belongs to lebron and kyrie. Had he been drafted to cleveland, he would just be a third wheel for his career.

I don't know. If you are a HOF level player changing teams should not change that. Lebron left Cleveland and Cleveland returned to being bad. Love was just 30. And he was still a 17ppg guy. He had 2 real good seasons.
