Same here !!!!

Made zero friends. And I am out-going and friendly by default. I had ZERO trouble making friends anywhere else. I know, some here will claim friends elsewhere are fake - not so !

My recent history;

5 years in Boston area
4 years in Florida
7 years in Texas
1 year in Alabama
6 months in LA

I assume "no big deal"...referring to the traffic in Arlington.

Not to say your experience was not different, but generally in the South it seems women's relationships ARE fake and in most cases they just want to be nosey and make sure you aren't out living them. Again, not all cases but a lot.

No, I haven't run into this.

I am curious though, assuming you have run into this, what were the outcomes after they decided you were out living them or not?

This equates to "keep up with the Joneses". Everyone is trying to live in a bigger house, fancier car, take better vacations, etc, etc.

Oh, is that all you meant. People do that everywhere. You certainly have dug deep into the barrel to try and come up with a negative trait of friendships elsewhere.

That is just my point. I realize people can be this way everywhere, but it is the fact that southerners get the reputation of being your best friend no matter who you are. It is just not true. They are no different than most people around the country.

*by southerners I am not speaking of all but rather %'s.

Summing up Rranger's, XSBE's, and Lukec's recent comments, basically, being a motorist in Boston bites. With left- and right-turn lanes that suddenly appear when you're right on top of an intersection, one-way streets, poor street markings, and intertwining roads and travel lanes, it's just that much more difficult if you don't know the area where you're driving. Along with the weather and the cost of housing, the realities of driving in Boston are most likely the other main complaint about living in this area.
