Allston has historically been "rock city" of Boston. It has been catering to college students as well. But with the saturation of various types of live music they had there it made it a destination to not just college students. Taco Bell makes great sense in Allston. It just hurts that it replacing one more of what made it a unique part of Boston.

There was a Kelly's Roast Beef at the opposite corner a couple of years back and it failed, I was shocked at that.

I'm not too surprised. Kelly's fills a pretty small niche. It's unknown to most people who aren't from MA's North Shore. It's also looked down on by people who are fans of the North Shore Beef. If I was a student in that area, I'd probably go with McDonald's or Five Guys over Kelly's. Better bang for the buck, and likely more familiar. There are also plenty of places nearby to get better reasonably priced sandwiches and other non-chain food. So I'm not sure who Kelly's was really serving over there. Taco Bell will probably do fine.

That closed in 2011.

Kelly's is expanding now again with a franchise model - 3 locations in Florida by the end of the year.

Better than a TD Bank. Unfortunately, Taco Bell is among the better outcomes in the new Boston.

That seems pretty wild. Can’t imagine eating a warm sloppy beef sandwich in a swampy day.

Kelly's is overrated and overpriced, and not as good as when it was just Revere. I prefer Mike's, but that will be gone soon after being sold to Wynn. This situation is being replicated in every neighborhood. What's next, Symphony Hall being replaced by Popeye's?
