Olive Garden also is part of a chain that owns Macaroni Grill and the one here in downtown Lakeland, Florida (we're retiree winter snowbirds from Ontario Canada) that was built just 4 years ago, wasn't taking off so they razed it to ground level two days ago and are building a spanking new Olive Garden in it's place!
Did my first Olive Garden on a recent trip to Fla. it was everything i thought it would be ,lots of pasta, tomato sauce, cheese and pasta,i wasnt impressed and didnt see what the big deal was.Tried a couple of other places on the same trip,Pannera Bread, great breakfast but the rest of their menu was a bit ho-hum although their soups were good,
Another place was Chipotle, Not bad at all, excellent chicken although next time i go i;ll get everything in a bowl rather than a messy burrito.
Yeah, Olive Garden is a bit overrated. I think it's probably popular in Canada because you cannot get it there. It's about wanting what you can't have I guess lol. Although even at our local Olive Garden you can never get a parking spot because it is always full. I don't know why. I have yet to try a Chipotle, even though its right up the street. I think there is one in Toronto if I am not mistaken.
I wish we had a Red Lobster here in B.C. otherwise we have to travel to Seattle to go the nearest one...It is even worse because Safeway sells Red Lobster giftcards here but they are of no use unless you travel backeast or down south....

If you go as far down as Seattle, make sure you try also Crawfish King

Did Red Lobster abandon Canada as there are none in Quebec any more?, closest one now is near Albany.Used to like their food every once in a while and was always impressed how the photography of their food plates made them appear twice as big as they actually were.Had to laugh at their 30 shrimp deal and they brought the whole thing out on a plate not much bigger than a tea saucer, where i'd tell the waitress thats not shrimp its krill ..

I believe there is one on St. Laurent Blvd. in the east end of Ottawa.
St. Hubert is the patron saint of chicken restaurants.
