Speaking of restaurants! We have 11 of the 15 most favorite restaurant chains in the country. The 4 we don't have are Cheese Cake Factory, Red Robin, P. F. Chang's, & T.G.I. Friday's. Which one do you think we'll get next? Jacksonville, a similar size city, has Red Robin already.

What's up son. (metalhead0043 is my son)

There is some activity on Firetower Rd. where the big trailer parks used to be. A portion of the property is for sale and is advertised as suitable for homes and condos. I was drving by when I saw the RE sign. There is also pipe and roads being installed on another portion. I guess hopes of getting a big mall there are dashed now.

When I lived in NJ we had PF Chang's, it was expensive and no one I talked to like it. Friday's is Applebee's ish, nothing special. Cheesecake Factory is nice, I have never eaten at Red Robin. So I'm pulling for a Cheesecake Factory.

Red Robin is standard American fare. Burgers, fries etc. We had one at the Annapolis Mall when I lived in MD. Nothing special. There is, however, a new Thai restaurant opening up at the corner of Reade and Evans St., near where Ham's used to be, called Thai 360. There used to be a pretty decent sub restaurant at that same location called Alfonso's a few years back. They went out of business and got replaced by another restaurant whose name escapes me right now. So that's no less than the third business in that building in the last few years.

Yes I saw the Thai 360 sign as well last time I was in uptown g-ville. And was it Kat's Kitchen that used to be there? I heard people talking about that building in class actually, it needs some updating IMHO.

Are you referring to the one at Evans and Reade Circle? At one time it used to be Marathon, a Greek restaurant. Everything there seems to fail. But I did go by it last night and it was full. But I agree about the updating part. It needs to get razed and rebuilt into something more eye appealing.

In my opinion, the building would look a lot better with significant landscaping improvements and parking lot improvements. The parking lot looks terrible.

There is one building downtown that is off the beaten path but looks great architecturally. It is the Cupula building located on 8th St, it houses the United Way of PC among other non-profits.

Also, looks like the master plan for the Town Commons is about ready. Hopefully something positive will come from that. STILL waiting on the master plan for ECU. That will be significant source of knowledge. They produce one every 10 years.

So now we have more official information about the Highway 43 widening. From B's Barbecue Road west to the highway's intersection with U.S. 264. Memorial to B's Barbecue, which is currently under construction, is a different project. That $2.66 million project should finish up on December 17

Barnhill Contracting Co. submitted the low bid of $5.79 million

Work is scheduled to begin Dec. 27, 2011, with an estimated completion date at the end of 2013.

A bridge will be built over Harris Mill Run Creek.
