Lucky you! They are beautiful.

One of the sites where I did some research said that they can be hard to spot - though I can't remember why. We haven't had a bad Miller year in CS in a long time, so maybe that's why they haven't been around. As I said, it's only the 2nd one I've seen in years.

That's amazing about the hummingbird - too bad you didn't catch it on tape - I'd like to see that.

Well, glad to hear from someone ... I was beginning to think I'd seen the only WT in Colorado!

I have seen them at my home up on the Palmer Divide.

I had a Blue Heron in my pond a few days ago - it ate all my pond fish! I have seen them around but never guessed it would come into my pond like that!

I can't believe it ate all your fish!!
I am watching 2 deer in my yard right now! I have swallows that keep dive bombing me when I walk out front! They are protecting their nest that is up in the soffet. I love wild life!!

I don't watch much Sesame Street either these days, but here's what I can tell you about that bird (nice photo, BTW)...

It is most likely a Female Pine Grosbeak, but it could also be a House Finch or another type of Grosbeak. Her coloring and tail feathers match that of the female Pine Grosbeak, but the beak looks a little bit more protruded, like that of an Evening Grosbeak, so it's hard to say for sure.

treedonkey - if you're referring to the photo I put up there with my post, it's a photo of the subject of my post, a Western Tanager.

Ah, yes, I misread your post, it looked like you were looking for help ID'ing it.

Indeed, it is a Western Tanager - Female, breeding... according to my book anyways.

No problem treedonkey ... I learned something about Grosbeaks too. Hope to see more of these Tanagers, because as I said, this is only the second one I've seen. But according to the other posters, they're around.

Hummingbird fans will like these pix, even if they are two years old.
