The Short North can be pretty hood, even during the daytime. A year ago I was at the Utrecht Art store and noticed something peculiar going on. I sat in my car and just watched a guy start rummaging through a 7 series BMW. Papers were flying around, he was going through the center console. Right next to the 7 series was a BMW X3. The guy unlocks that suv somehow, and starts rummaging through it.

I ran back into the art store, told the guys inside, so the fatter guy and I grabbed a baseball bat and ran back out into the parking lot. The thief noticed us, and started taking off running.

This happened in broad daylight in the afternoon with lots of people around.

Can anyone recommend a location to take a nice photo of the Columbus skyline from?

The skywalk from Columbus State Community College to their parking garage is okay if I remember correctly. I took a class there once. You get a more 'filled in' view of downtown as compared with other spots and it's one people don't usually see. Another place a lot of people take a skyline shot from seems to be looking east from down on the river near the Confluence Park Restaurant or up by COSI. You also might be able to get a shot from the south around where Greenlawn Ave crosses the Scioto River near Berliner Park or at Whittier Peninsula Metro Park if it is open yet, but I'm not sure how accessible or how good the views will be once you get out of your car. The best view of town that I've seen, in my opinion, is looking north from some of the apartments on the south side of downtown, but you would have to know someone to get in there.

This is a good one I found from the Confluence Park area:

This is one from the apartments I mentioned:

Actually, if you go to flickr.com and just search for Columbus skyline, you'll find a variety of shots to give you some ideas.

That's the reason I chose not to go to Ohio State. They raise tuition to build and buy stuff that's not needed. Unfortunately most larger Universities are getting like that.

The majority of large universities ARE like that.

I took a 12 mile hike around downtown about a month ago and took several pictures of the area. If anyone is interested they can be found here: Columbus, OH - Downtown - a set on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/32838849@N08/sets/72157623729070957/ - broken link)

If that link doesn't work for some reason let me know.

Thanks Beavercreek, I had a real pretty day and a beautiful blue sky which helped them look better.

I could never figure out how to put pictures here on CD, so hopefully the link will suffice.
