Not a joke at all! I haven't bought a new camera in decades so the best is to ask the helpful public (you guys) who will know the good, LEGIT online retailers these days other than the big box stores. I've ran across Adorama, which I had never heard of before until a couple days ago, but don't know how reputable it is. I want a certain Sony model. Thanks a lot!
Any more anyone?

Sart with the www.BHPhotoVideo.com link. Very reputable, and generally good pricing and service.
Adorama is legit, too. Got started very similar to how B&H did. They have a brick and mortar store in NYC and created the website which took off. Almost identical to B&H but B&H was the fist big NYC store to really take off online.
I'm gonna toss this out there - my preference for cameras is to not buy them online. It's one of the few things I'll find a local shop for. Here where I live, I prefer District Camera, they also have an online store. They're great people.
Your little cheapo point and shoots, maybe that's OK to buy online, but anything expensive, I want to put hands on it before I buy it and get feedback too. I've bought almost every camera I own over the last 10 years or so from them.
Find the model you want. Search for it, google or whatever. Find the best deal. Order it. Make sure you pay with a credit card. There are many vendors, the large majority are reputable. They would not remain in business very long if they were not.
I have no idea how tech savvy or how experienced you are with buying stuff online but the exception these days is NOT buying it online. It is the normal thing to do with most people. Younger people I guess? I'm not so young but I may be an exception.
I bought a DSLR some years ago. It's a Nikon D3200. I bought it refurbished direct from Nikon. Great camera, not top of the line, not even close but still great. They don't really make bad cameras. Canon is another good one.
Give us a brand/model and we can help you find it.
Thanks so much guys! I want a Sony ZV-E10 in the black color w/ the grip kit too. I know the camera's $800 all over. ON Black Friday itself, I don't know how much cheaper it will go. (The Sony ZV-1 is my 2nd choice.)
Re: going in-peron, I'd prefer in-person too, but surely NOT going out in the Black Friday madness whatsoever, no exceptions. As long as I have a good amount of time to return it in case I dont like it, that's fine w/ me.

Quick search brought up Best Buy where you can pay online, pick it up in store or just buy it in store. Advantage to this is you can return it to the store. As long as you get the same price. Your choice. $650 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-zv...?skuId=6415933
