Never been very successful here in Australia. Those that you see tend to be in areas frequented by tourists.
We generally prefer our small local coffee shops, where the barista remembers our preferences.

IIRC, Starbucks has been doing poorly in China for the past year or more. Their economy hasn't been so hot either.

I went through a drive thru for the first time in a couple of years. I just ordered a Tall Black Coffee (nothing fancy). I'm in Oregon and it's expensive here even though it is counterintuitive. It was close to $4. I was seriously offended and it reminded me why I quit sbux. I make organic at home; it's an expensive freeze dried organic and it's much better than the battery acid over at sbux. I am sure I am only paying 50 cents a cup or something on that order (maybe less). I just brew it before I leave the house (and put it in a Starbucks coffee tumbler).

I remember paying about $1.25 or less for that Tall Black coffee from Starbucks.

I do not like getting ripped off (or a better description is FITA).

I go to Starbucks probably 4 or 5 times per year, usually on a road trip. When I worked for a living, I stopped at a Starbucks 4 times per week in the morning on the way to work.

I used to drink an espresso or latte or cappuccino, but nowadays I just drink black pour-over coffee. I wish Starbucks had a separate line just for people who wish to order coffee (no espresso drinks) - and people who want to order complicated drinks and food could be in another line.

Nowadays, I roast my own coffee from high quality beans I source from specific plantations, and currently use a Clever Dripper or a Vacuum Pot, each of which give me a better result in the cup than Starbucks or their competitors. The best way I can describe it is Starbucks is black-and-white two dimensional whereas my home roasted is technicolor 4-D.

I hate it at Starbucks when I order black coffee and they make me repeat it a couple times. They are not used to people ordering just coffee. They don't even recognize the word coffee half the time.

I am more likely to spend money if I leave the house. But, I trained myself to take some kind of drink with me plus emergency water in the trunk. I mean, on account of highway robbery nowadays. I'm just saying no to astronomical prices. I am in a no buy zone. I gave a tree to my neighbor (so she would not buy something that grows to 100-200 feet) so I had the landscaper take out some stumps and he's coming back to reset my flagstone path (circa 2006). That's coming out of Bunny the cat's $4,000 for dental work (I feel terribly guilty). Gardening has been a hole in my budget for years. I try to do most of the work myself. It's like a gambling habit where I am breaking into my kid's piggy bank so I can go sit at the tables...

The stuff I buy is Mount Hagen available at Vita Cost online or Whole Foods. It's so good and no headaches if you skip drinking it for a day or two.

You see videos of Gen Z's complaining about not being able to support themselves after getting 2 degrees.

Maybe they've figured out SB is a great place to cut back and very expensive.

With the mobile app there's no line at all. You just order on the app, drive there, walk in and it's waiting on the counter. I still see plenty of people who sit in the drive through line

I WFH and still leave the house to get my Starbucks. I could see where some Starbucks might be hurting if they depended on by mostly office workers who now mainly work from home.

Am I the only one that thinks McD's sells the best coffee? They are the only place I will buy coffee from if I am out and about.

Someone on CD turned me on to Lavazza coffee that I make at home. I can't find it in a store so just buy it from Amazon.

It must be a sign of fiscal responsibility and those youngins finally investing in the market since I’m told those $20 coffees they buy are the reason they’re not rich.
