I saw my first fully automated Starbucks kiosk the other day. I think that is their future.
As for demand. Starbucks was a regular stop. Now, I can’t tell you the last time we were in one. High prices, better options at home or on the road.
I like their coffee...it is getting expensive though. I've tried making my own (i drink iced coffee) and it's just not the same. Local shops around me aren't much cheaper and they dont have the mobile order app the way starbucks does and i hate waiting in lines.

Same, I like their coffee, and local shops here are roughly the same price.
While it's not QUITE as good as their fresh-ground coffee, I just buy cases of Starbucks k-cups and take to work with me. Tastes much better than all of the other generic stuff in the grocery stores.
My son loves their bottled Frappuccino's.
We go on occasion but I have gone significantly less since 2018 and even less since I started working remotely due to COVID.
One reason I started going less was due to the degradation of their rewards program. You used to earn a gold card and would get a free beverage every couple of months along with special addon's like free syrups. Now their loyalty program is essentially worthless.
Consumers are strapped. They have been living on increasing credit card debt and it is coming to a head. People thought inflation would be done by now. The ones who don't understand inflation thought prices would go back down.
Consumers are tapped out and it is starting to hit the bottom line, from MacDonalds to Tesla.
There is nothing wrong with the Starbucks business model. They have a rabid, loyal following (for some reason that baffles me. )
It is the economy. Consumers are running out of steam as rent soars, car insurance soars, home insurance soars, groceries are still high, utility bills are rising fast, airline tickets are expensive, all manner of new fees are kicking in from banks to government services, etc.

Same here, I'd ask for a black coffee, which I guess isn't typical.
My son just gave it up. He just calculated how much sugar and caffeine he was getting.
