No, I didn't have to work.

It was during the time after I left my job, but before my appeal problems were worked out. I never could buy $200/mo in food, so I'm still spending that accumulated money. I'm not sure if it expires, but it's going pretty quick now that it only replenishes at $16/mo

Here is a good Food Stamp Calculator from North Dakota ( Food Stamp Benefit Calculator) that will break it down for you after you input all necessary info some of which you may have to look up like Standard Utility Allowance for your state. In California it used to be $321.

Note UI benefits are considered "unearned income" and is not subject to a 25% forgiveness like earned income is.

I collected food stamps off and on for about 3 years so if you have any more questions just ask.

Good Luck!

My question is what kind of income do I need to get $150/mo or $200/mo in food stamps. $35 is some kind of joke. My friends make more money than I do and still receive $100+/mo in food stamps.

I can't find any information as to what the correlation is for income to food stamps. I read that I am allowed a maximum of $1100/mo to be eligible for food stamps but none of these articles will stipulate the amount I would receive if I made $1099/mo or $900/mo as I do now.

Thanks,
How many persons are in your friend's family?

OP is in FL. Food stamp calculator from ND will not apply, as each state uses different parameters.

Just apply, and don't worry about the max.

Per AK website:

For either group, you also must have an annual household income of less than $14,079 if only one person lives in the household.

Arkansas Food Stamp Program
Your annual income will be $12,924. It doesn't appear you have gone over the max income threshold. Depending on how your state does its numbers, the $18 may be reduced. You will find out when you report the income.
