but cell phones used to be no more than 250 with a contract and about 500 without a contract now they are 800+ with or without a contract. It's such a rip off

The cost of going to any pro sports game is rip-off city. Not just the ticket price but also a cup of beer, hot dog, soft drink, jersey for the kid ....

I guess that I'm spoiled, remembering the cost of a bleacher seat to see the Baltimore Orioles at 75 cents, and for kids under 12, 50 cents, and it was $2.50 for a box seat.

Seats on the 50-yard line to see Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts were $7.50. The bargain seats were $5.50.

Last NFL game I attended was in 1968, last MLB game, 1970.

Typically you own the PSL so while it may be a lot of cash to put out you can sell it as well. All is not lost there

Trying to understand this comment. You first sentence says $20 is a lot. Then you say tickets cost a lot more elsewhere. Did you mean $20 is nothing?

The biggest rip-off is government services paid through taxes. But then again, as someone once said, thank goodness we don't get all the government we actually pay for.

Soda and iced tea have the largest markups.

And if people actually paid taxes for what government costs, we wouldn't have any deficits.

That's tautological.

To justify their jobs, government agencies play both arsonist and fireman -- create problems for us and then provide the required services as solutions to those problems. And we keep paying them.

Makes your blood boil sometimes.

Comparatively speaking, I was saying that 20k for a SBL isn't as much as 30-100k for a SBL.

In other words, if someone bought a house in CA for 500k, that's nothing compared to buying a home in other parts of CA. 500k is cheap compred to the cost around CA.
