I love the half price dented cans at the discount place. I got 2 cans of peas today. I saved a whole dollar.

I buy dented cars for far more than 1/2 off. Usually closer to 90% off.

Saves a bundle. I rebuilt several wrecked 'muscle cars' before I was age 16. Beats watching TV. Usually I fix them, but occasionally I paint a Band-aid on the crunch and drive it for a few yrs to be sure it is a keeper before spending the time to fix it
Can't think of the last time I bought metal cans of soup, veggies or fruit. Likely about age 16 when I moved away from home. Tuna... Buy a can only when I run out of fresh / frozen. I do buy Stoke's green chile with pork in a can. Dent sale would be a godsend for that expensive stuff. Still trying to perfect my homemade version. It is not cheap or fast to make.

No. Lessons from home economics. I won't take a risk that the can has been compromised.

Stores mark them down instead of throwing them out, so someone is buying them.

That would have to be a pretty serious dent for the car to be half price.

I agree - not worth the risk.

I very rarely see them, but will buy if discounted enough.

"If a can containing food has a smalldent, but is otherwise in good shape,
the food should be safe to eat. Discard deeply dented cans. ...
A sharp dent on either the top or side seam can damage the seam and allow bacteria to enter the can.
Discard any can with a deep dent on any seam."

If this helps.
I buy small dented cans, yes.

Exactly. Slightly dented cans are fine. I avoid the badly dented ones. I don't know bad a can would have to be to get 90% off. The ones I see are 50% off.
