I didn't realize Sears Auto Center at Hanes Mall had closed. Maybe BJ's will remodel and use that building.

Went to Hickory Tavern for lunch today. The burgers sounded good, but I had the "Oregon cedar plank salmon" or whatever fancy name they had for it. I'm no foodie, but it was very good to me. Caesar salad (didn't care for the that so much) to start and a side of rice (basic "yellow rice") with the entree. I got there just after 11:00 am, and they were seriously overstaffed for the number of people working there. Reminded me of Bad Daddy's when it opened - lots of staff standing around with nothing to do. It seemed a bit pricey for lunchtime. But I'll probably be back to try a burger, and to bring the family for a dinner. They have a crazy number of tvs in the place - I think their sign said 50.

Now I need to venture down Hanes Mall Blvd to see if the new Zaxby's has opened yet - I've been waiting for one in that area for the 4 years I've worked nearby.
edit: Zaxby's website shows the Oxford Station restaurant as open, but the map on the site is way off from where it's actually located.

Sears Auto Center at Hanes Mall, near the Sears department store? It's very much open; signs are still up - I drove by there today.

Makers of Texas Pete moving headquarters to downtown Winston-Salem - Winston-Salem Journal: Local News

Another corporate gain for downtown.

I noticed. It's more a gain for Winston- Salem's downtown, than for the "Triad".

It's a gain for both. And your answer is indicative of the attitude that has kept the Triad as a consistent underperformer for decades.

No, I have the ability, after living here all my life, of being able to see things very clearly, and as they really are, and continue to be.

Your positioning of your post is unequivocally indicative of how one community or person advocating one from one end of the "Triad" loves to help the other take credit for something. This has zero to do with High Point, Greensboro, or the Yadkin Valley. It's about Winston-Salem. Let's be real. Downtown Winston-Salem. Not downtown Burlington. Hence, my purpose for putting it under a correct and appropriate thread. Thanks.

Its has zero to do with taking credit, its has everything to do recognizing the "Triad" is an interrelated economic region. Its about taking off the blinders of provincialism, and drooping the us versus then mentality that divides the region into a series of fiefdoms that no one out side each city cares about.
