Neighborhood Market with just 1 store is not participating much either in Spartanburg. I wonder if NM is really making money for Walmart. I saw online where they are closing some of them quietly this year. One in Columbia is closing. Walmart seems to do the Supercenter best IMO and I would think with more categories/departments they get more sales there for the overhead.
That one is pretty well placed. It's put the Bi-Lo next door out of business, so an Ingle's about a mile away is the only competitor for a pretty large section of the county there.
I was told by someone in the know that Public's will not locate a store in Boiling Springs until they can find the right piece of property and it has to be on the right side of the road coming out of Spartanburg. That must be why both Ingles on #9 are located on the right side. Also the old Bilo and Walmart are on that side too.
There is not a grocery store called Public's. There is a supermarket called Publix.
