Had to laugh when you said elderly = 45 or over. I don't feel really old at age 64 - until I pay my health insurance . Twenty days until Medicare and counting. Robyn
Don't feel bad Robyn I'm 55. What I meant is how health insurance companies price their policies. 35 not bad, 45 you get hit.

This is not a nice statement. My health problems have nothing to do with a lifestyle. It is problems from a childhood viral disease. However, I do not have to defend myself to you, who follows me around looking to attack me and cannot read with understanding an intelligent observation.

I was just commenting on the situations that do exist and is well known in the poorer states where there more problems with obesity and other health issues that are co-morbid with being poor, as poor people do not have the funds for preventive medicine. As I said, it is interesting that these States with more poor people who need more health care are tending to vote for a person who wants to repeal an Act that will help them.

Wanting to find something cheaper? Is there a possibility out there.

Thanks

If you really want a good analysis of the health care mess in the U.S. I recommend the book:

Who Killed Health Care? by Regina Herzlinger

The short version of the story is that we have the worst of socialism and capitalism combined. Whether run by government or the private sector, we have minimal competition, which leads to high costs and mediocre care. We also have a major problem with unwholesome foods and unhealthy lifestyles, which drive up costs considerably.

Here is a link to a pretty great article on why health insurance is so expensive. They make some good points and also help you learn to save money. I used it when choosing my own plan when my COBRA was just too expensive to keep up with.
