I don't know if this really counts as a "locals" casino...but the Main Street buffet is pretty good. Stations is decent.

I don't remember which Downtown casino it was maybe Lady Luck? Used to have all you can eat crablegs for cheap. My step father ate so many the cook came out to see who/what was happening. That is the only thing that sticks out for me in regards to buffets here. I don't like station casino buffets or buffets, really. They are good if you need to fill your belly on the cheap and are willing to wait in line for for it, I'm not.

We were talking about buffets the other day and realized we hadn't been to one in quite a while. I still love going and getting exactly what I want to eat.

I still think the best bang for the buck is Main Street Station followed by Arizona Charlie's Boulder. The Orleans jacked up their prices too much so I don't go there anymore and Sam's Town's quality went waaayyyy downhill. Stations is OK but they are pretty much all the same.

I would say, "blah" when it comes to most of the local-joints hotel buffets.

I like Red Rock and GVR. Does M count as a local's casino? It's buffet used to be really good, but I haven't been in a while so don't know if it's changed.

Yes, why wouldn't it?

I posted earlier and said gvr when I meant to say M

no you do. If you know anything about local's buffets then you can make a informative decision about the general quality of ALL and point out the good the bad and the ugly

Seems like Red Rock GVR and the M have all went downhill. I am not really interested in any of them any more. Not a buffet but the summer meal deals at Southpoint have been good value for me.

We had the red rock for lunch earlier this spring. IIRC, lunch was around $9 ea, which for food, soft drink, and desert was on the price level of a fast food joint these days. Food was better than that, but that's not a ringing endorsement.

Had dinner a couple times at the M, after hearing how great it was, and a "meh" experience the first time, thinking it was just a bad night. Second night was not much better, and it was way overpriced. We've crossed that one off our list permanently.

About a year ago, we had dinner at the rampart (with the jw marriot in summerlin) it was mid week, cheap, food was edible, but nothing to write home about.

We were hungry after watching a movie at southpoint, and tried their buffet one night...it was also "edible', but not memorable.

My brother and his wife love Texas Station, we've gone there with them several times. It's not bad, but it's not top quality either.

There used to be a poster on this board who worked in the food industry here in town, and he had a rather blunt and less than positive opinion of the state of "buffets" in Las Vegas these days. Our experience is limited, and we always leave "full", but compared to 15-20 years ago, the quality of the food significantly worse, which tracks with this poster used to say. Some of it can be overcome with what you choose, and which meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) you eat.

One of these days, we're going to try that Sunday brunch at the MGM (sterling buffet?) but at $100 each, we're going to have to be really hungry..LOL
