I like buffets because you get what you want, in the quantities you want.

A lot of restaurant economics is to plate up a lot of cheap carbs, with just a smidgen of expensive protein. At a buffet, I don't have to play that game. If they have meat or seafood I like, I can primarily eat that, with just a dash of the carbs or veggies for contrast.

In Vegas, I particularly like the Aria buffet (at least when I was there last) because they had king crab. If I get this in any seafood house out here, I'm spending $40 for just that as an entree, plus anything else I get. At area, I was spending $36 (IIRC) for everything, which would include much more than just the king crab. And usually my poker play will get me one comped per trip. Now, yes, this is more expensive than your basic locals buffet, but the principle remains the same.

Sometimes buffets are convenient because you have people with varying tastes in your party. I guess it's also considered part of the Vegas experience.

Interesting. The page for the Aria buffet does seem enticing. We'll be aiming for weekday lunch/brunches...

Aria - $29 (weekday brunch)
Bellagio - $29 (weekday brunch)
Caesars palace - $39 (weekday brunch, $29 if before 10am)
Cosmo - $28 (Friday $36)
Wynn - $23-26 (if before 11am)

Aria has good fricken food. Totally agreed on that. Great coffee as well.

If you really want to hit it, spend the bucks on the Sterling Brunch. ScoopLV approved.

We may do just 1 this time and I think it would be more important/interesting to sample more locally loved flavors/places.

I am definitely going to take note of Giada, Bobby Flay, and Emeril's ?

A colleague of mine this month who grew up in Vegas also recommended the following:
Lucille's BBQ
Gordon Ramsey BRGR/Burger (Planet Hollywood)
Insert Coins arcade/bar
Sadly, Insert Coins closed down. It was a fun bar.

Giada's place is really good. Emeril has never let me down. The Gand Lux is always reliable. My faves though, are local's joints. If I was on vacation, I would not be traveling to the burbs to get a bite either. Enjoy, and please come back.

My wife likes Sam's Town buffet - we usually go for lunch once in a blue moon. Since she likes it, I find good stuff to put on my plate. Small portions, I usually go back for this or that once. Desert has a nice variety, with many sugar free dishes (pie!).

Nice slabs of prime rib as well...... The elderly waitresses call me honey........ Sam's has got it all. Friendly cocktail servers, a movie house, bowling....... and a great value buffet that attracts lots of local people. We always stay a night there on visits to LV.

This was the wife and I's favorite fancy hamburger place, and saved it for special occasions. We took some company there a couple months ago (after the name/menu changes), and it is nowhere near as good as it was before. We won't be going back: smaller portions, lower quality meat, just overall less appealing than the old one.
