What largesse? I give more to my adoptive country than I get from it. Not that it matters to me, but I feel compelled to point that out. Are you speaking from experience or are you just repeating some mantra spouted by xenophobes?

Maybe if you walked a mile in their moccasins, you would have your answer. Anglo immigrants who have come here to US since 1500 did not stay behind and fix their respective country's problems either, did they? Why didn't your ancestors who did not migrate "build" their countries? Are they not committed to their respective country's? How many countries are represented by US immigrants? Out of all those who stayed behind, do you honestly think no one is trying to take on the system? Do you think it is easy for anyone in vietnam (for example) to "build their country"?

We have friends from El Salvador. Half the family stayed behind, including their mother. The govt. there decided to start killing teachers, college professors, or anyone they thought might speak against their regime. My friend told me there is a river there that always had dead bodies in it. And the soldiers would come to his village and take all the males over age 14. He and his father and uncles ran to the jungle and slept in a tree. Try to imagine that scenario and ask yourself what would you do to build your country.

Its because their country is usually being run by dictators (who don't allow democracy and will quietly kill you if you say anything they don't like).. or if your country is being attacked by other countries.. like poland was by nazi germany, or iraq was by USA.. there's not much choice one can have. if you're from the USA, your ancestors had to make the same choice.. europe back then was the equivalent of 3rd world countries back then.. it wasn't as rosy as it is today.

Immigrants build their own country as well. The remittances by Asian countries to their home countries is astounding.
http://www.worldbank.org/en/news/pre...ld-bank-report

India led in 2012 in remittances ($70 billion) followed by China($66 billion) and Mexico and Philippines tied for third place ($24 billion each). These remittances allow their families to buy houses, cars and thus increase economic activity in their home country as well.

That's not always true -- most of our immigrants come from a country that has democracy and elections. Actually it's got a growing middle class.

And many come from a country that did have a dictator but he's so old now he can't even stand up by himself but they still won't defeat him.

Many a time, those countries they're from might be overcrowded. Nothing they can do to change that even if they stayed. Much more land in the USA.

Did you ever hear of birth control?

The vast majority of our immigrants are coming from a country with very high birth rates, and these people have very high birth rates after they come here. Aren't they just going to do the same thing to our country that they did to their own?

That's one of the easiest things they could change -- stop having children they cannot afford. They surely cannot afford huge families here when their education levels are very low.
