Affixing a specific number to legal immigration seems impractical. Legal immigration might be better served on an "as needed basis" and an "absorption basis." In other words, how many persons are required to fulfil the needs of XYZ endeavor? How many persons can the US absorb based on existing economy?

Unfortunately, this country can’t control itself with the greed factor. The existing programs are case in point about the abuse, corruption and mismanagement that are inevitable. Based on current trends, we should tag the annual inflow to the current population. Any emergencies effecting labor needs can be addressed on a temporary basis within a certain range. Though would be needed, rarely.
Again this is the best way to prepare ourselves to a low population growth reality forthcoming. Though some might say a trickle flow should be established going forward, say 50,000 per year.
Keep in mind this poll addresses legal immigration and not those allowed in on work visas etc.
Imo, I would cap that inflow to .1% of the national population with three year expirations. If the business wants to sponsor them for legal immigration, then that that work visa slot is lost for the remainder of its lifespan. Student visas should also be set at .1% for undergrad and .05% for grad students.

Because we have millions and millions here now who have broken the laws to be here we are FULL UP with aliens at this time..sorry but you have to blame the ones who have broken in line . Send the illegals back to where they came from FIRST, then consider letting in more aliens..
Very little and it should start coming from different countries. Europe,Australia,South African Afrikaaners.

I think the number allowed should be split up evenly by continent/region. 20% from each with no single country taking up more than a third of that allotment. Public charge rule enforced.
