Humility is perpetual quietness of heart.
It is to have no trouble.
It is never to be fretted, or vexed, or irritated, or sore, or disappointed.
It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me.
It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed and despised.
It is to have a blessed home in myself, where I can go in and shut
the door, and kneel to my Father in secret, and be at peace as
in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and above me is troubled.
“God is Harmony; the devotee who attunes himself will never perform any action amiss. His activities will be correctly and naturally timed to accord with astrological law. After deep prayer and meditation he is in touch with his divine consciousness; there is no greater power than that inward protection.”
— Swami Sri Yukteswar
"The devout seeker is he who mingles in his heart the double currents of love and detachment like the mingling of the streams of Ganga and Jamuna. In his heart the sacred water flows day and night and thus the round of births and deaths is brought to an end. Beholding this truth, the ignorant become wise and the wise become speechless and silent." - Kabir
Learning to say "No", Gabor Mate. I found this interesting, he's very insightful. It doesn't have anything to do with meditation techniques. But I did find it helpful anyway.
"Dear God,
So far today I've done all right. I haven't gossiped. I haven't lost my temper. I haven't been grumpy or nasty or selfish. But in a few moments, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed, and then I'm going to need a lot of help."
(Paramahansa Yogananda)
