In retrospect, as a 70+ year old male, I've asked myself that question a number of times!!

In the US, people actually don't have to work in order to have their ordinary needs covered. Those are all covered by welfare. People work for their self-esteem, and because they often want to have more than they need.

But I don't work any more. Taxation was a very significant element in my decision to reduce working to part-time for the last ten years of work (since after certain point too much of my additional income was eaten up by progressively increasing taxes), and even in my decision to fully retire at 60. Particularly if you are single without dependents (ie, if you don't get huge child tax credits), and you work in a hard profession, at a certain point it actually stops making sense to work more for progressively less after-tax income.

So what’s stopping you from doing that?

Why do you like to project your own insecurities?

It's not the job of the city nor state to issue Green cards. It's a Federal job. They're all being used to come here to be exploited. The Fed will never issue green cards to undocumented people with no history of their past identity and affiliation.

They are here to be exploited. So enjoy exploiting and being exploited.

Eric Adams basically told businesses to hire migrants illegally on more than one occasion so far.

I can predict the threads you’re going to start. Time for you to really think about leaving the state.
