On Lido in Newport Beach: Berkshire's restaurant...best around; later on in the mid-'60s they added one at the Orange County Airport. I used to go there with my mom, who had a home on Balboa Island. At the airport, you drove in, parked right in front of Berkshire's (free parking) and went in and ate a good meal.
That was a time....

Stumbled on this old thread I'd forgotten about looking for info on what went into the space of Richard's Lido Market after it closed.

I can't believe I didn't mention some restaurants I miss from the 1960's, like Villa Sweden, the Jolly Roger, the Wharehouse and not a restaurant, but a smoked fish stand, where if you took the fresh fish you'd just caught on a day boat, for a small fee he'd give you already smoked fish in exchange for your fresh fish.

Newport Rib Company has great ribs and really cool pics of old Newport.

Orange Julius is sadly long gone, as is Dillman's, across the street, but a very, very cool coffee shop called Lily's replaced Orange Julius.

OMG, in continuing to try and find what replaced Richard's Lido Market when it closed, I bumped into a whole new line of memories; the first Pavilions Grocery Store was in Garden Grove..... in an old Zody's. Dang I remember Zody's, Gemco, Whitefront (on Bristol in CM) and my all time fave, Fedco.

I came across my old Fedco membership card in an old wallet a few years ago.
