Is the Oregon Coast liberal? (Portland, Eugene: ski resort, college, live)

I wouldn't mind living in the most conservative areas of Oregon or Washington coast.

I need to start researching the areas and jobs.

Curry, Coos, and Douglas County are most definitely conservative. Once you go north of Douglas and into Lane and Lincoln County, for the most part it gets more liberal.

Benton county also went for Hillary, which indicates a fairly rural county with a liberal bent.

Swings to the left as well. Astoria attracts portland tourist and retirees in the same way Corvallis and Eugene influence Florence and Lincoln county

I agree. Oregon is very much a conservative state. It votes higher for liberal candidates because the folks in Portland, Eugene and Ashland that vote *far* outnumber the rural, less populated cities and towns across the state, but I tell folks when it comes to politics in OR, everything east from just east of Hood River and all the way down the Cascade mountain range, is very conservative--NE and SE corners of it too. Its really only the valley that are liberal, and actually if you take Portland, and Eugene out of the mix, and don't include Ashland ( since Ashland isn't in a valley per say ) even the western side of the Cascades are conservative.

When I lived in OR for almost 22 yrs , up until a year ago, I drove for a living, all over the state; especially the I-5 corridor, and the coast at least from Astoria down to Newport, all the time. Most of the coast IMO, speaking to residents there, seemed conservative. Parts of Astoria and Lincoln City are liberal, but I wouldn't go as far to say it was the entire towns here, even.

Take the 2.5 million folks that make up Portland and Eugene ( and no, Springfield don't count as Springfield is conservative; especially compared to Eugene ), and everywhere else in OR is mainly very, very conservative.

According to Gallup more Oregonians self-identify as MODERATE than either LIBERAL or CONSERVATIVE.
