It was suggested for the last theme that we do macro and I like that idea for the August theme. I sent a DM to 2goldens and it was ok'd. But does anyone wish to narrow what the subject of the macro is to be? Like just macros of bugs or plants. Or is it ok to just go with just macros of any subject? Thoughts.

I like the idea because it should bring out some creative and unique pictures worthy of contests. But the latest assignment has a macro theme (Abstract Macro), and not one photo has been posted there. Link

I would recommend something different but equally challenging.

I do not recommend bugs because not everyone has zoom/close-up lens.

Since macro is a part of the latest assignment I've changed my idea for a theme from macro to a photo of a machine or part of a machine. Like the inside of a pocket watch, construction machines, old tractors, factory machines, coffee makers, shop machines, antique machines, etc. The whole machine or part of. Use your imagination.

Cool! I'm going to an old engine show this afternoon if the rain holds off. If not, I'm going tomorrow. Just in time. Plus that sounds like a great theme overall. I can't wait to see how it is interpreted by everybody.

Congratulations on your win Bear Creek.

I like the idea of machines for a theme, and since this is August, I already have something in mind.

I've been away for a while, and the process for the monthly contest seems to have changed since I've been here. I just want to make sure I have it straight. We post the pictures to the "August 2009 Theme" thread anytime between now and the last Wednesday of the month? And from what I've read, the theme is now machines. The "August 2009 Theme" still lists the July theme, so I'm a little confused. If someone could clear it up for me I'd appreciate it!! Thanks

The new theme (for August) is "Machines", selected by July theme ("Green") winner Bear Creek.
