Personally, at this point, you should both have your own device for the plane. Like most people do. I rarely if ever see 2 people sharing a screen on a place.

Now you're talking. So we'd really need TWO tablets, each costing almost the same as the airfare plus the dongles.

OK, folks, let's close this thread, please. The original question was simple: Is there a tablet that has both a 3.5 mm port and an HDMI port or other simple way to connect to a multitude of TVs at hotels, etc. It's clear that there isn't. So that $349 laptop from Costco is about the only option for a new machine. We already have two of those, why not the third just for travel. . .

One IPad can share the sound with two sets of AirPods. No, you wouldn’t need two iPads. Yes, I know you didn’t want a wireless solution. I’m just saying that it can be done. There are also devices to connect tablets to multiple monitors, but those would be also pretty expensive, so never suggested those.
