I love food. I also love discovering new places to eat.

I am sure a lot of you might be the same way so I wanted to start this thread to compose a list of little/unknown/not widely talked about restaurants with good food.

Got a little secret of a restaurant to share? Heck, even if its not a secret, but you don't think the place gets the attention it deserves - post it here.

Here are mine

Verona - Italian joint on Broadway and Houghton. It is in the strip mall along with the Bashas or whatever it is on the SW corner. Good eats - nice atmosphere.

Angelos Pizza and Gyros - 2410 W Ruthrauff (Near I-10). Never had anything other than the Gyro platter with salad and french fries. It is delicious. Best tsatsiki sauce I've found in town actually.

Ha, ya think I'd derail only other people's threads?!

I don't have much to contribute as I forgot what going to restaurants was for the most part. Since '99 I've been going only to selected few. Not a big fan of weird food, either.

Seriously, go down to Nogales and have some molcajete!

OK, I'll let ya be... Don't come back cryin' you miss me, though!

The Oracle Inn in the town of Oracle. It is definitely worth the drive!

Not sure I'd go to Nogales just for the restaurant. There would need to be something else to get me there. Nothing has succeeded yet!

Nothing in town? Oh and about weird food - you were talking about Smelt a while back - thats just f'n weird if you ask me! =P

If I end up missing you, I can find you somewhere else.

I grew up by a sea, dear. You've no idea what good fish is. I'm just trying to find some pathetic substitute, but no such luck...

In case you're not aware of it, I tend to hold grudges...

Duty Free and Hookers, or Duty free hookers?

I don't like Fish. I've had sea-bass direct from the source. People raved over it. I could handle it - but I wouldn't ask for it over a cut of beef, pork or chicken!

Please don't hate me!

Restaurants?

Personally, I ain't one of them high-falutin', wine-with-my-meal, dinner-jacket restaurant types. If I was, I'd prolly go live in NYC or one of them other pompous, uppitier-than-thou cities!

Jest gimme a good ol' cheeseburger from the Lucky Wishbone from south Nogales Highway, or a dozen donuts from Le Cave's Bakery at 22nd & south sixth avenue, or any breakfast from that good ol' hole-in-the-wall, Poco & Mom's, near 22nd & Kolb.

If I ever even get close to lookin' like a pretentious so & so, its prolly because you saw the Filly and I munchin' on their wonderfully delicious Francisco Enchilada Salad from the Eclectic Cafe at Snobino & Tanky Birdie!

I've given up on any hopes of seafood here. I save that for when I go back to MD.

As far as restaurants go, my fave is Feast on Speedway. I also like Las Candelas on Limberlost... I assume a lot of people don't know about that one since they're usually pretty empty. Also, Karichimaka on Mission near Irvington has some great cheap Mexican food.
