After watching Burger Land tonight I couldn't help but to think, does the DC area have any great burgers? The best I've tried thus far is Bobby's Burger Palace but the corporate feel to it doesn't suit what I'm looking for. Honestly, as crazy as this may sound, I want a sloppy burger and I'm willing to go to a few locations over the course of this year to find my favorite burger joint in our area.

Thanks for answering and hopefully I made you all hungry by thinking of your favorite burger in our area;

BMORE.

Default Five Guys?

Have you not yet tried Five Guys Burgers & Fries? It's a local chain now spreading throughout the country and they make an excellent, juicy burger. Very, very good!

Big Buns in Ballston is pretty solid.

Also can't complain about Ray's Hell Burger in Rosslyn or the new Z Burger in between Clarendon and VA Square.

Didn't they shut down Ray's Hell Burger a few months ago because of some rent issues? I'm not aware of them reopening it but I've been out of the area off and on for several weeks.

But yeah, that was a good spot and I was disappointed when I heard it shut down.

The actual Hell Burger restaurant is closed, but you can still get a Hell Burger at Ray's to the Third.

Big fan of Ray's Hell Burger.

As for local chains, I actually like BGR: The Burger Joint, although it seems to be hit or miss for a lot of people.

I'll recommend Energy Kitchen's Sirloin Burgers. Great tasting burger under 500 calories (as they advertise).

It's at 19th and L NW, a couple blocks away from the Farragut Square Metro Stops.

Rays to the Third in Rosslyn (Rays Hell Burgers served here). You will love this place--burgers are big and messy.
Shake Shack (var locations)--good burger but not that messy.
