As nasty as my last boss was to me, I would never sink to their level. First and foremost, I'm a professional and I dignify myself as someone who takes the high road.
Whatever issues you have with your old boss, you should leave it at the door or that same attitude might show at a new job.
I work for the money. Nothing happens at work that would cause me to need to "stand up for myself. "
By the way, how is walking out an act of standing up?
It’s standing up by virtue of the fact that you are standing up and saying “I’m not putting up with x anymore, either it goes or I do.” So you STAND UP, walk out and use denial of service by refusing to work for them. Take your skills to someone that’ll actually appreciate them and pay you what you’re worth.
Is it impossible for an employer to do wrong in your eyes?
BTW you saying “I work for the money” tells me you don’t care about how your employer treats their employees or how they run their business. You have no principles at all besides earning a buck. You’re no better than someone who carries out an atrocity and says “But I was just following orders”. Learn to think for yourself instead of with the group/boss.
There's a way to air your grievances without walking out. If you do walk out have a better job waiting and leave on amicable terms. I don't know what job the OP has that allows him to continually leave on bad terms and get a better new job. But people who have done that are usually unemployed for some time to come.
I’m a mechanic, and I can get a better job because I am constantly improving my skills and increasing my value as a mechanic. I don’t NEED the shop, they need me and my tools, knowledge and experience. Not willing to pay me fairly or treat me badly? Tool box has wheels for a reason.
We all need to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps stop being sensitive snowflakes and go dig ditches for below minimum wage in 100F weather with a smile and feel blessed by the lord we have any gainful employment

People who say that “the other golden rule is those with the gold rule” are dead wrong. Just as might doesn’t make right, neither does money.
Except for my first job, I’ve quit every other job without another lined up. On my fourth job now, and I don’t regret doing it.
Just wondering: 4th job in how many years?
For me, in my adult life (36 years of working), I have had seven full time jobs. I have also worked second jobs when I was much younger. This past 21 + years I have been with the same employer. Before that it was 5 years to the day at the last employer. The other jobs were were 3 years or less.
My skills were in demand as well once I became a computer specialist. I was treated well for the last 18 years of working and made good money and got a good pension so I have no complaints. But I wouldn't have gotten that job with my company if I hadn't stuck it out through thick and thin and a demotion for 27 years at the company, and 7 years at the company before that. What I learned is you can control your bosses without leaving.

This book which I read when it came out in paperback in 1985, which taught me how to not let people take advantage of me while not losing my temper. Fact is if people are taking advantage of you it's because you are letting them. Better to control the situation than blow your top and walk out. If you get angry you basically lose. If you let people walk on you you lose. If you learn to control the situation you win. Not to say you won't get jobs you don't like or bosses you don't like, neighbors you don't like and relatives you don't like, but you learn to handle them, keep your job and relationships and your self respect.
Once that is understood,the duties are mine to enjoy. My boss garners as much respect as he delves out. I respect our one owner. He doesnt demand...he asks. He serves to improve the business. Not once would I ever tolerate a 'suck it up " or the flagrant "deal with it buckerooo!". It's dismissive with no interaction to seek a manageable solution.
I earned that paycheck. Doesn't matter who signs it . I earned it. That's the deal.
