Kenseth will be pretty cerebral in the booth, most likely. I think we might get some good insights.. Just.. Presented fairly blandly. Of course, with Bowyer there.. That should up the level just by itself.
The guys who would be good in the booth are either already there or are in the race.
Again, Schrader would be great.. Knock the dust off Cousin Carl. Mark Martin if you could drag him over, but, I think that's unlikely.
Maybe Biffle.. I'd say Vickers, but I think he's laying low.. Or his wife is, at least.
Schrader would be good , but he and Boyer together! Boyer needs to chill a bit, sounds like a used car salesman for NASCAR. I do believe someone a little more analytical like Matt would be refreshing in comparison to the whole cheerleader routine.
From practice and qualifying today, the race might be a mess tomorrow.
It was, but for varied reasons.
Seems the two main problems with the new car come down to flat tires leaving the car immobile, and we did get confirmation in the broadcast today, there are no innerliners. And the front grill basically getting clogged up.
Unexpected names at the front. Erik Jones looked really good. Suarez was up and down but had a good finish.

Auto Club Speedway was awesome. Looked like NASCAR of the 60's. I loved seeing the high groove racing, and the unpredictability of the cars. However, I really think they should use the inner liner again -- I have no idea why they stopped.
BTW, imagine if they don't change these cars, what Darlington will look like.

I agree, but have you taken a good look at the "aspect ratio" of the tires they're now using? I would guess that it's a 40 or 45 series tire, and I doubt there's any room for an inner liner, as well as the difficulty on being able to remove it/install it quickly enough, when Goodyear's crews are remounting new tires on the rims, between pit stops.
I'm still frustrated by NASCAR's later starting times. First, the start time was published to be 3PM, EST, but by the time they started the race, it was closer 4PM. Fortunately, there were no big wrecks to delay the race, but as mentioned, even a flat tire on one of the cars, was cause for a caution delay, as the cars, in many cases, can't drive back to the pits under their own power, on these new tires.
And, it appears that this "single lug nut" deal has a few bugs to be worked out.....

I saw a lot of spins by cars all by themselves. Also, cars seem to behave badly in close proximity to each other's rear quarterpanel.
And the flat tire issue is just absurd. That must be fixed immediately. German manufacturers have managed to put run flats in low profile tires. I'm sure Goodyear can figure it out.
EDIT: It was great seeing Mark Martin back at the track.

A "run flat" is a type of tire construction that has very stiff sidewalls, which will support the car, even if there is "zero" air pressure. An "inner liner" is more like a tube, that is separate from the tire's structure, contains air, and gives the tire support, when there is no air in the tire.
