Unless they just go all out for putting on a show, basically going demo-derby.. I suspect you won't be back.
That's the problem. Most likely, the racing won't be good. So, if new eyes are brought in.. They won't really see what the sport is like. I was fine with it running on the Road Course. That.. Makes some sense. They're often competitive and.. Look at last year. Leaders took themselves out on the final turn and 3rd place won.
This is a gimmick. Not unlike the Bristol dirt race. And, like that.. I suspect it will not pay off well.
Nor do I think the entertainment venue will help. I don't see hardcore fans enjoying the rap and hip-hop genre. It seems NASCAR is doing everything it can to get rid of anything traditional.
A whole lot of buildup for a race with a really boring finish.
At least it wasn't a run-away with no one even close to contending for the win. But with all the hype about this "Next Generation" car, I was hoping there was going to be more lead changes among more drivers.
Overall I enjoyed the race. Would have been more dramatic had KB been able to get side by side with the 22 for the checkers.
I was impressed with how much beating and banging the NextGen carbon fiber body was able to take. Some work needs to be done on the drive train possibly, or maybe those guys were shifting too much?
Joey looks to be the king of winning inaugural races now. Plus the first win in the NextGen.
I think Daytona will be a good race and the 2022 season could be even better than 2021!
