Does anyone have any information on the proposed northern belt line in northern Jefferson County?

A few years ago I emailed the AL DOT asking about the status of the Northern Beltline.

Just trying to understand the situation more clearly, I asked them why was Charlotte able in 15 years to complete a bypass much longer than the Northern Beltway when Birmingham was discussing the NB five years ( in early to mid 80's ! ) before even much of the Charlotte bypass ( I-485 i think ) was completed.

I did not get a reply. I'm not casting blame because really don't know if it is AL or FEDS fault, and, yes, North Carolina is a more prominent state. But this not anything new. Look at the Rand McNally Road Atlas --- NC is covered with a web of blue, limited-access highways all of which probably did not get federal support but a good portion did. I would say the limited access highway/interstate system in North Carolina is the one thing that has spurred its growth over the last 30 years more than anything else.

I thing its time AL's congressional delegation got some folks on the transportiion/infrastructure committees if that has not happened yet.

Carpe

That's all we've been doing since early 90's or before........ latest info on the link above is over 1 year old. Where has the Birmingham/county leadership been on this issue?

Ok, well there was a blurb on The Ca**** Report (can't link the article) about construction starting in 2010 on the section between AL 75 and AL 79 near Pinson.
