Also, like i may have said in some earlier posts, I took several nice long hikes through Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Crystal River, Marathon, and Key West and encountered nothing crimewise.

it is very high in Ft. Myers when I lived in Naples I would hear nightly about shootings, stabbings, murders etc in Ft. Misery er Ft. Myers. Its creeping into Lehigh Acres too, they just found 3 dead men in a car in Lehigh they're calling suspicious I believe. Kids are stolen, cars broken into etc. Ft.Misery went down the drain years ago

Strange, it also seems, I also regularly watch the program "World's Wildest police videos", and never seen any episodes filmed in fort myers or cape coral. I did, of course, see numerous episodes in west palm beach, orlando, and jacksonville, as well as a few in tampa and miami.

overall .

Its like under cover of darkness car burglurs strike . I do find Miami crime ridden.
Miami's violent crime rate is the highest in the nation (robbery,assault) but low in actual killings according to statistics I came here thinking that was wrong but I believe I was wrong lol .

I disagree I lived in NY granted you have bad areas like bad areas here in Florida .
I lived in nice quite area like most live here and than moved to same quite nice area in Miami/Doral.
I have lost count of how many cars have been stolen in area alone. Not in the community itself but parking lots of mall,gym,etc.
Its unreal . I found NY better but thats just me I moved due to cold as hated it and hate it or not plan to go back.
Miami has its good points but for the population count the theft/robbery rate is sky high.

I agree 100% not to mention NY has something that I dont think Florida has. Hidden cameras that are placed in certain areas to watch car thefts,etc and switched around to different areas.
The subways which are now very safe at ANY hour are full of plain clothes undercover police .
