I'm defining what I consider getting ripped off. That's what this thread is about. All your ranting and raving about democracy is pointless.

It doesn't matter if YOU think I'm not getting ripped off. It doesn't matter if every other person in the country doesn't think I'm getting ripped off. I'm the one paying my money.

I'm sure someone somewhere thinks $12 for popcorn is not a rip-off. Does that change anything for anyone else?

Rip Off? can be referred to many different situations.

Price goes with the costs involved in production and/or materials along with labor increases.

For me the Rip Off is when a US? made product (using the term loosely) has a out of country supplier for their material. Check out the line of clothes available today.

Could go into detail of my thoughts and name "names" but do not want any libel suits being made against me.

Wonder what would happen if I walked into ******* wearing only a thong (male) while complaining about their line of imported clothes and the poor quality.

Guess we will never know...will we.

Why not stock up at the supermarket with a 12-pack of generic cola, for abouit 15 cents a can?

Haven't you heard? That's why we do wars. The Military-Industrial Complex sees war as a trillion dollar high-profit windfall.[/QUOTE]

I know that wars are a huge business and great profit, but considering our involvement everywhere, why are we so poor and the economy is down??

Because we had to borrow the money to shovel into the military profiteers. Another factor is the grotesque squandering of raw materials, nuch of which must be imported, that need to be acquired in order to produce all the wasted armaments. That's really the only economic "cost" of fighting wars.

I am a woman and spend $10-15 on a haircut and it has never turned out bad! I used to be scared when I first started going to the cheap places, but I've been doing it for years and I don't worry about it at all anymore.

And don't get me started on mixed drinks, which are usually served with more ice than liquid! "$12 please..." $12? For that? This is why I rarely drink when I go out.

Also, have you ever looked at your cell phone bill? Usage fees, utility tax, and on and on...

Then again, there are people who are too frugal. I know someone who returned a bottle of $2 shampoo to Wal Mart. This person has millions, and she was actually taking the trouble to return this bottle of shampoo! It boggled my mind.
I never drink when I go out to dinner. I just can't justify the cost! I've noticed many rich people are cheap! That's how they stay rich

Agreed - one does get what one pays for. I let myself get a little shaggy and my usual stylist was out of town and I had a business meeting coming up, so I went to some Great Clips or something that charged me $8 - I looked like I lost a fight with a weed whacker. I have no problem with the $40 I spend to have it done right (and I'm a guy).
