It's a rip-off that my taxes fund schools when I've never had kids. I'd rather my taxes fund dog obedience training since I do have those.

Jeez -- makes me glad I live in a gang infested cess pool.... I haven't been to a theatre in I don't know HOW long....

BUT -- if you want to feel better about shelling that out.... it's my understanding that the ticket sales all go back to the people who put the film out. Very little goes into the theatre owner's pocket. He makes his money off the concession.

Doesn't seem fair really -- seems Sony or Paramount could either own theatres and run it themselves OR allow theatre owners to rent the movie for a price and let him make some cash off it. Sort of seems that sooner or later this way will shut down movie houses (already has killed the single movie houses) which can only negatively impact Sony and Paramount.....
Priceless...........erm.....probably not my optimal way to save money though.

Well -- the bet was the neighborhood was going to gentrify. It's tried a few times....but hasn't made it. It may make it yet.... but I'm no longer betting on it. It's not all bad -- we aren't prisoners in our home.

But we like to view movies in such a way as to get involved with the movie. Cell phones going off, people yakking through the picture, candy boxes rattleing, drink cups sucking.... all the cacaphony of people being people draw us out of the picture.

The only time it didn't matter was when we saw Home Alone in a packed with kids theatre. That was fun.... they all got into it, and their excitement was infectious.

Yeah, can try having a full meal from home so you still feel real full when you go to the movies. And when the movie is over, you can have some small snack together and still enjoy the night.

Oh, well that is my bust.....you are in OAKLAND.............YIKES. I mean I have seen Oakland from afar........but never been crazy enough to set foot in the city. I am sure it has its nice part (parts???), but the reading I have done about it is....well, let me just say not flattering.

There's a lot of bad around here.... but there is WAY more good. WAY more good. I'd take my neighbors over the ones I grew up with in my Norman Rockwell suburban youth anyday.
