Is it his shop or is he renting a booth? Barbers aren't usually employees. So the guy is also getting the $17. Giving him the whole $20 bill is fine.

I cut hair myself using a comb with blades that costs $3-4. done. no tipping, no worrying. only cleaning the bathroom after cutting, this way saves on gym membership too

Back when Hair Cuttery was much less expensive, I ALWAYS gave them $5.

How is getting a $17 haircut being frugal? I bought a haircare package on Amazon a few years back. I haven’t had to pay for my haircut in two years.

It is not that hard to cut your own hair if you are not disabled in your arms or hands neck also.. Practice makes perfect and it will grow back if you screw it up
